The "Monthly Recap" is a monthly post that looks at my projects and websites to see how they are doing. Statistics is a major part, however other things such as new users, number of articles and other things are also factors. Here it is for June 2008:
Thank goodness for my 2nd favorite AdaptCMS 1.3 feature, stats archive! 3 stats programs to use.
According to both Awstats and Analytics, June was down from May, but better than April. AdaptCMS (the script :p) says that it was down a lot from April and a bit from May.
Stats should go up in July with the release of 1.3, hopefully also (finally) getting on opensourcecms. Mixed
It seems like AdaptCMS is almost a constant thing to work on. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad thing, though I seem to have to take breaks more often, but that's also probably because I still have so many websites. AdaptCMS 1.3 is going to be an even bigger version than v1.2, with quite a few big new features.
Form Builder Plugin, Enhanced Stats, Read Me (a BIG one) and my favorite - the File Release System. You can see some of the juicy details here. I still have yet to do the Subscriptions, finish the Read Me and a few small things, but I'll have plenty of time with the Beta releasing this week.
If working on a big release of a CMS wasn't enough work, I've decided to start back work on AdaptBB. I had the dilemna of either letting adaptbb.com go (likely forever) or renew, at minimum I'd eventually do a forum script. I went ahead and renewed it.
With working on a 2nd script again, I'm looking very much forward to working on AdaptBB, I plan on using some extent of OOP. (would be the first time) At this point it's mostly planning, from features, DB structure, file setup, skins, etc. I'll be sure to keep updated here and at Insane Visions.
The "Monthly Recap" is a monthly post that looks at my projects and
websites to see how they are doing. Statistics is a major part, however
other things such as new users, # of articles and other things are also
factors. Last month I didn't post a recap, so this one will be covering both April and May 2008, here it is:
IV had a very good April, according to Awstats it was the best month of the year and possibly the best month ever (or at least for a long time). Analytics said it went down. Either way, despite the stats, just 3 articles were posted in April.
In May, stats were down (by a decent amount in awstats), but a total of 5 articles were posted including v1.2 of AdaptCMS released and in late-may, a new website part of the Insane Visions network was launched - PHP CMS Reviews. Mixed
Just as I predicted, April was a huge month for GTA IV Universe, practically doubling March. Also as I figured, May dropped off by quite a bit from April, but still better than March.
June is expected to go down as well, but with continued updating, could be similar to March. Up
It seems every month I make a post about how I haven't posted for a few weeks. :p However this time it's been a full month!
Sometimes I suppose I don't have much to talk about, like the last few or so weeks. What have I been up to? I just started work on v1.3 of AdaptCMS for one, among features I've already written down likely to be in v1.3 weeks ago - I already have thought of doing full documentation and a neat idea for upgrading, possibly without having to download a zip file!
I've also started a new website, a part of the Insane Visions network, called PHP CMS Reviews. Think of it as a website like OpensourceCMS, it will be building up a database of PHP CMS's and will have demo's as well as reviews, news and other things in the future. The site should be launching monday.
Well I think that's about it, I'll try and update more frequently. Until next time.
It's been a little while for blogging here, I've been keeping busy. GTA IV is just 11 days away and the updates have been occurring every day.
Inbetween that, work has been happening daily on AdaptCMS, from bug fixes to minor enhancements. As said on Insane Visions, v1.2 of AdaptCMS is like a "mini-major version". Numerous security enhancements, new features, heavily improved features and a LOT of minor improvements.
The beta for AdaptCMS Lite v1.2 should hopefully go up by this weekend. Of course AdaptCMS as a whole is basically the same, but there are several things that are greatly enhanced.
Another thing I've been working on has been the Packs; basically it's a bunch of content pre-loaded. I've been working on the PS3 pack (or the "next-gen" pack, unsure yet) so far and have it nearly done, I underestimated the amount of work. For the PS3, 138 games (from launch to GTA IV) with full info (publisher, developer, esrb rating, description, genre, release date and boxart), takes a lot of time!
Well that's about it for now, the next week is going to be very busy for me. If I can get the Beta out, then I'll have for other stuff, including the much-anticipated GTA IV. :D
The "Monthly Recap" is a monthly post that looks at my projects and
websites to see how they are doing. Statistics is a major part, however
other things such as new users, # of articles and other things are also
factors. Below is how March 2008 went:
A good month for IV. Stats according to google went down just slightly, in Awstats everything went up, who knows! Stats were up to a record high last month, so I'm happy.
A total of 7 articles were posted (1 tutorial, 3 blogs) and a nice 12 new member signups. Up
After putting it off, I finally got to work on GTA IV Universe and got quite a bit of stuff up and got some big traffic thanks to the likes of reddit and stumbleupon.
Stats were only up 4,500% :p. I think it could even be better in April, with the release of the game. WAY Up
It's been a crazy few days. After AdaptCMS Pro was released, Thursday and Friday were generally "bad" days, especially Thursday. Problems paying a bill and then my cat had to be taken to the vet (which I got to walk a mile while raining, taking him, fun :p). I haven't gotten the test results yet, but I am expecting him to be okay.
The Web
That said, I haven't done much web-wise. I did do an article about Creating your first website, I plan on doing more articles like that in the future. Other than that, I've already started just brainstorming for AdaptCMS Pro/Lite v1.2, definitely have some unique ideas already.
New PHP Project
I wish I could make a big announcement and reveal a new Project from Insane Visions, but I can't, yet. Frankly, I don't know what to do. AdaptCMS is really the CMS I have always wanted to make, blog software doesn't interest me either. There is a mostly-finished AdaptBB forum software and my idea of a Social-CMS, File Management script, shopping cart, so many ideas.
At this point I'm just thinking and gathering feedback, but at this point I have no idea. Hopefully soon. :)
Having the first blizzard in 12 years is such a weird thing. Since 1977 there has only been three blizzards in Cincinnati and the third one happened on Friday/Saturday. 12-14 inches by me and at the height of the storm, gusts of wind up to 40 MPH. It got so bad that my county had a Level 3 Snow Emergency, meaning any non-emergency vehicle was not allowed on roads and could be arrested. The worse part for most was the fact that practically no business were open Friday night-Saturday.
During this "down-time" I got to finish up on AdaptCMS Lite v1.1 and release it, you can get it here. Pro v1.1 has been released too. I'll talk more in a post real soon.
The "Monthly Recap" is a monthly post that looks at my projects and websites to see how they are doing. Statistics is a major part, however other things such as new users, # of articles and other things are also factors. Below is how February 2008 went:
Another great month for IV. Stats are the highest since the site became the main domain in the hosting account. (over 1 1/2 years ago) Last month stats were up by a lot already, analytics said 20% and were even up 8% if you compare Feb 1-29 to Jan 1-31st. The continuing success of AdaptCMS helped along with a lot of traffic to the tutorials. 5 articles were posted (1 tutorial, 1 blog) along with 8 new users. WAY Up
January was the best ever for AdaptCMS.com and February was much better. Awstats said uniques tripled January, analytics saying a 200% increase. There were several new articles posted and if listed at opensourcecms.com and v1.1 releases, March could stack up and possibly do even better. WAY up
Continuing a consistent feature here at my blog, the "Monthly Recap" looks at my projects and websites to see how they are doing. Statistics is a major part, however other things such as new users, # of articles and other things are also factors. Below is how January 2008 went:
Overall, a good month. Stats are way up compared to December, up 80% according to analytics. With the new version of OneCMS, especially, helped stats as I expected. With AdaptCMS released and it being integrated with IV, that will boost it as well. 7 articles posted (1 blog) and 8 new users. Up
The best month of AdaptCMS.com, ever. Double the next best month (from nearly a year ago) and a bulk of that traffic is from just about a third of the month! With Pro and Lite released and posted in a lot of places, stats have gone WAY up. There has been numerous purchases of Pro and new users. Great month and I can't wait until February! WAY Up
I made a blog just 4 days ago, yet it seemed like it was already time to make a new one, so much going on.
OneCMS
Seemingly after forever, OneCMS v2.5 was released. It is expected to be, sadly, the very last major version of OneCMS as a gaming-cms. I know that may sound like a hint of things to come, but it's not. My intention is for AdaptCMS to reign as the one and only CMS in active production of major version, by Insane Visions. That said, I expect several small versions after OneCMS v2.5, to fix bugs and such.
Life
If making a CMS, popular isn't tough enough, the joys of life. Not much has really been going on, aside from looking to college and trying to look into it and get a when and where as well as look to get a job. Fun stuff.
Sick, but back Posted: Jan 12, 2008 - 10:37 pm Author: admin Section: Updates
I posted a blog "Gone, but back" just back on January 5th and 3 days later I got sick. Got a cold and just today (the 12th) I am getting better, thank goodness. I got a 4 GB creative zune, so far I definitely like it. Real easy to set it up, real easy to use and pretty much very good quality. I also got AdaptCMS Pro running up at Insane Visions, AdaptCMS Site and the site you're at now.
Luckily I did, because I found numerous significant issues with the cache feature. Sometimes as good as testing is, it really needs to be put online with a site with a lot of pages, content, etc. and see what errors, bugs, etc. there are. But other than that, it's done well.
Gone, but back Posted: Jan 05, 2008 - 8:03 pm Author: admin Section: Updates
When I don't update anything for more than a day it seems like I almost have to explain, even if it's not a post it's improving a website layout or doing something. This time I was helping my dad move. I was out in Indiana from Wednesday afternoon until Saturday, got back at 12:30.
A two bedroom apartment (one used for storage) and everything barely fit into a massive 24 foot truck. If you don't know much about moving trucks, a 10-12 foot truck is okay for a simple 1 bedroom apartment. Although I think riding in a truck is kind of fun, it feels like a bus because of it requiring Diesel fuel and requiring wide right turns.
Anyways, I'll be working to release OneCMS, hopefully by the 15th as well as the AdaptCMS Lite Beta will be, definitely, out this upcoming week.
Continuing, hopefully, a consistent feature here at my blog. The "Monthly Recap" looks at my projects and websites to see how they are doing. Statistics is a major part, however other things such as new users, # of articles and other things are also factors. Below is how December 2007 went, Happy New Year!
I'd say a "alright month". Stats were down in awstats by a good margin, normal stats were only marginally down (adaptcms stats) and Analytics showed visits and pageviews down, a few other areas up. 8 user signups and 10 articles posted. Mixed
A new website and had a good first month. Quite active, with a lot of posted articles. Stats wise was good, will have a few podcasts coming up and be posting in more directories, after that stats will go down with the end of the season, but a good start. Up
Well normally I would of posted this in the same as the other post made today, but I just learned of it. After being in-between the system with later years in high school I had to go for my GED. This past summer I got a job at Kroger and they weren't exactly full, another words I got a lot of hours and finally quit so I could concentrate on the GED.
Long story short I studied, as previously posted took the GED last week and just to see if I could get into the site, due to problems the other day, I found out I passed the GED! Talk about a relief.
A feature I started quite a bit ago, Monthly Recap, is going to get a bit of a try. Basically I look at stats and such and recap my Projects and Sites, how they did for the month, in this case November, 2007.
Pretty good month. 10 articles posted, 2 Blogs, 1 tutorial and 4 actual news items. Would like to get that a bit higher this month, but pretty good. Statistically uniques were like 30 short of the previous month, which was a record month, but everything else was better. Up
A big month for AdaptCMS. Only 3 news items which is lower than I want, but progress on Pro and Lite was great. Statistically, lower, but because of the progress on the script, a good month. Up
As posted on IV, I finally went for my GED and should know the results this upcoming week. I also started yet another site, Bengals Chatter. Basically just a blog on the happenings of the Cincinnati Bengals, nothing super special. :p
Work on AdaptCMS continues, I'm really looking forward to releasing the Lite and Pro version. The original version has not done that well, unfortunately and I think that the script is a very useful tool with web developers, Lite and Pro will help a lot to show off AdaptCMS to many more people.
Pretty much it. I'll be doing a tutorial and will be kicking off a beta for AdaptCMS Lite hopefully in the coming week or two. I'm still trying to sell XBOX360Universe, awaiting payment from an interested person, may try and sell another site or two to cut down the # of projects so I can possibly make a new script. :) That's all for now.
Ah, decisions, decisions, decisions. Make a free version of AdaptCMS? Sell a few sites? It goes on and on. At this point It looks like there is an excellent chance of AdaptCMS Lite happening. I think it would just be a good thing, with a delay of one year and changing it to a pay script before the delay, really hurt the hype and anticipation. Having it free would also have a much bigger audience.
Project wise I am looking to do another script, possibly making the "File Explorer" seen at my old site "ScriptHost4Free", an open source script.
More updating on what's going on. I think I am finally getting used to the new apartment, we got a very comfortable couch, got a few chairs and table for the balcony and the big TV is now on a stand, the place looks real nice. :) Next up is a vacuum and futon bed (for me), though that will wait so some bills can be payed off. ;)
As for the new PC, my old one just has issues and I needed something reliable, so I welcome you to the "Dell Inspiron 1501". It's not top of the line but it does it's job, it's fast and cool. $529 and I just love it, I'm able to get more done with the laptop. I'll post pics of the PC, apartment, etc. soon.
Yeah it has been months since the last update but I am still doing websites. I've been working at Kroger since April and just moved on the 5th of this month, just got internet back a few days ago, so a LOT has been going on.
I have been with Kroger for about 5 months and I put in my 2 week notice, my last day will be next saturday. Not only has working at Kroger made it impossible to get my GED, but I worked there about as long as I wanted (6 months), saved up money and am just about burnt out from it. $6.85/hr working at the hardest base level job in the store isn't worth it.
After my last day I will have more time for my sites and GED, but I will of course start looking for a new job, hopefully day shift.
